About the Recitals
The CelloICI Recital Series is held every summer in concurrence with the International Cello Institute’s summer program for young cellists. With cello and music education at the core of the ICI program, it is of vital importance that our students have opportunities to listen to great artists play live while they are growing and developing their own musical careers.
This summer, it is fitting that the principal of the Minnesota Orchestra, Anthony Ross, and Timothy Lovelace will open our series at Sundin Hall on July 16th. They have both been with us from the early days of ICI and are prominent musicians in our Minnesota community.
We are thrilled to be able to present the Colorado Cello Quartet for the second recital on July 23rd. This will be the first time we have had an ensemble play at one of our recitals. Based in Denver and Boulder, these four cellists have come together as colleagues to form this quartet. All of them are excellent cellists and renowned professors at the University of Colorado, Boulder School of Music, and the University of Denver Lamont School of Music.
On July 30th, Queen Elisabeth Competition prizewinner and renowned soloist, Brannon Cho, will once again join us. Those of you who heard his performance on our series in 2018 will remember the amazing artistry and virtuosic playing he brings to each performance. Brannon’s career is in full swing, and we are proud to be able to present him once again at the International Cello Institute in 2025. Alongside frequent CelloICI guest pianist and collaborator Victor Santiago Asuncion, Brannon will be closing our series for 2025.
